Jodoh Semelir Waterfall is in the Telagah village, Sei Bingei District, Langkat, which is about 2.5 hours from Medan. The waterfall is directly adjacent to Gunung Leuser National Park. To see it on the map, click here.
This waterfall is inside a row of hills with a panoramic view of Mount Semelir. The mountain has an altitude of 1,754 meters (5,755 ft) above sea level. You can enjoy the fresh and cold water in the river while swimming in the open nature. Other activities that you can do there are trekking, hiking, and camping. The forest also has rare plants such as Dipterocarpus sp, Shorea sp, Champhor, rattan, cinnamon, Tangkeh Lengat tree, Beringin, and forest banana. There is also a cave not far from the waterfall.
What to Expect
Entrance fee is Rp 40,000 ($3.50) per person. You are required to bring extra energy since the road is steep and you have to walk for 30 minutes to the waterfall. Lodging facilities are not available in the area, except small warung (food shops). Bring enough food and drink from your hotels or buy it from a supermarket on your way.
