Njuah-njuah Cultural Festival is an annual creativity carnival and show of cultural diversity in Dairi. Cultural customs from the regency are the main feature of this festival. Venue and other details of the 2018 event are not yet available.
It is the largest festival of its kind on Lake Toba. Various competitions complement the celebration. They include fashion carnival, solo vocal festival, and traditional games festival. There is also a special night of musical drama entitled ”Pertaki” that shows the charm of tribes living in Dairi. The event also hosts a cooking competition, marching band, traditional dances, and the opening ceremony. Last year, Governor of North Sumatra attended the festival.
What to Expect
The carnivals are free, but certain competitions may be subject to entrance fees. It is a must if you want to understand the culture of people living on Lake Toba.
