Siantar Zoo

Siantar Zoo is a very old wildlife park in the city of Pematangsiantar. The park was officially opened to the public on November 27, 1936. It has an area of about 4.5 hectares (11 acres) on Jalan Gunung Simanuk Manuk, Pematangsiantar. What’s Special

This zoo has the most complete number of animals in Sumatra. There are more than 150 species of animals on display. Mammals, birds, and reptiles are there to increase your knowledge about animals. For example, there are Sumatran tigers (now rare and almost extict).

Aside from being an amusement park with a nature concept, Siantar Zoo is also an animal conservation location. It is the best place for reference for the care and protection of animals, both tame and wild. Here, animals that require special attention live in quarantine.

What to Enjoy

Enjoy the close look at wild and rare animals. In addition to enjoying their beauty and activities, you can also feed some of them. Zoo officials provide the food that you can buy at antrance.

Facilities such as places to eat, toilets, prayer room, children’s playground, and gazebo are also available to use. The location of this zoo is also very comfortable, there are lots of plants such as flowers and big trees so the air feels cool.

What to Expect

The entrance ticket to this zoo is Rp 30,000 ($2) per person, and this zoo is open every day from 8 AM to 5 PM. Access to this zoo is easy because it is located in the city center. You can get a taxi or local transport to get here. On weekends it is usually crowded.
