Sidamanik Tea Plantation is a state-owned tea plantation located at the altitude of 890 meters (2,920 ft) above sea level at Sidamanik, Simalungun. It is about 3 hours from Medan. To see it on the map, click here.
What’s Special
The business represents the largest and oldest tea plantation in Sumatra. It offers cold weather and green scenery of a giant tapestry stretch that refreshes the eye. Pine trees on the edge of the farm make the view even more panoramic. Sidamanik tea is also known for its world-class quality. The company has exported it to many countries, such as Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Malaysia, and Singapore.
What to Enjoy
In this sub-district, natural attractions are the prima donna. The natural conditions there are still beautiful and original. Moreover, the road to this sub-district, from Pematangsiantar is quite smooth with black asphalt, accompanied by views of rice fields on the left and right. No more than an hour’s drive, visitors can get there, especially in the sub-district capital.
Visitors have the option to enjoy the natural scenery, from the tea plantations in Bah Butong to the natural fresh water baths of Bah Simahuting and Bah Damanik. If you choose to go to Bah Butong Tea Garden, it is only about 500 meters from the city center of Sidamanik. There is a large gate that welcomes visitors to enter the plantation area belonging to PTP Nusantara IV.
What to Expect
The best time to visit the plantation is either in the morning and the afternoon and when the weather is bright. There is no entrance fee, and it is open every day.
