Taman Wisata Iman (Faith Travel Park) features 13 hectares (32 ac) of ritual sites representing all religions practiced in Indonesia. It is in the Sitinjo Village, Dairi, about 10 km (3.9 mi) from Sidikalang (capital city of Dairi Regency). To see it on the map, click here.
Taman Wisata Iman is a unique place because, despite the fact that the local people are predominantly Christians, the park represents all faiths equally. There are places of worship, i.e., a mosque, a Catholic church, a Christian church, a Buddhist temple, a Hindu temple, each uniquely designed for sightseeing.
For example, the Saddahavadana Temple features the statue of Buddha Rupang. The founder of this site envisaged that all followers of any religion would live in harmony despite their religious differences. The quietness of the hills covered by thick pine forest has made Taman Wisata Iman suitable for spiritual tours.
In addition to the places of worship, there are also: a field for Muslim pilgrimage practicing hajj, a statue of Abraham, a statue of Moses, a church of Ecumenism, a cave of Virgin Mary, and Noah’s phenomenal boat.
What to Enjoy
Tourists can tour various locations within the Faith Tourism Park for education. Children and adults can enjoy this park. Here, visitors can see or listen to the story of the journey of the Life of Jesus Christ. The story covers the Sheep in Bethlehem, Jesus feeding 5,000 people, Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, 14 stages of the journey of the cross (Via Dolorosa), Mount Golgate, and the Resurrection of Jesus. There are also a Hindu Temple, a Hajj Practice Field, and a Mosque.
Vitors cann also enjoy the park natural beauty, i.e. not only a variety of religious building,. Moreover, the beauty that can be explored on foot.
What to Expect
Getting around the entire park would be a struggle because you will walk up and down the stairs quite a lot. Admission fee ranges from only Rp 2,000 to Rp 5,000 ($0.10 – $0.25) per person according to age. Opening hours: 7 am – 6 pm (every day).
