Toba GranFondo is an annual cycling event across Lake Toba with the challenges of long-distance trajectories through varying elevations and conditions. Last year (2017), the route started at Berastagi, Karo, and ended on Samosir. During the 3-day and 2-night program on August 17-19, the participants traveled a total distance of 130 miles at the altitude of 1,000 meters (3,280 ft) above sea level. Details of the 2018 event are yet to be available.
Feel the sensation of cycling paths along the edge of the giant caldera under the shades of mountains, countryside, and natural scenery of hills and trees. That will be the main attraction of this annual event. There is a closing celebration on Samosir with a variety of entertainment and free activities. In the meantime, pamper yourself with the cold atmosphere and typical calm beaches of Lake Toba.
